Feminism came into RISING FEMINIST Kirsten Bosch's life at a young age in the seventies while watching her mother fight for the ERA and working at battered women's shelters. Kirsten carried those feminist ideals into high school and college, where she was heavily involved in athletics and studied in the field of information technology. Kirsten holds a Master's in Business Administration and is working as a Consultant for an IT firm in Des Moines, IA. She recently moved back to the midwest after spending 16 years in California, where she started her career and spent several years as a grassroots activist while serving on the boards of both Sacramento NOW and California NOW. Kirsten recently attended a Veteran Feminists of America conference where she instantly connected with Lois Herr and her principles of corporate feminism.
Veteran Feminist Lois Herr is author of Women, Power and AT&T: Winning Rights in the Workplace, describing how her experiences and the work of other female employees radically changed corporate affirmative action through the EEOC-AT&T case. She was a founder of the women's rights committee at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Naperville, IL and founding member of the AT&T Women's Alliance, serving as a link between these groups and NOWs AT&T task force, of which she was also a member. During the case Lois published a newsletter circulated within AT&T and made many public appearances on behalf of NOW. She has been a member of The Women's Alliance in Lancaster, PA since 1990, serving as president from 1994-1996. Speaking on the current state of feminism at the VFA conference Empowering Women: A Tale of Two Generations, Lois explored what she calls "corporate feminism" which instantly struck a cord with Kirsten, who was in the audience. The two met at after the conference and soon a match was struck!
